Hmong News-Mekong River

The Mekong river has much history and travels a great distance after it comes out of China. These pictures were taken on the Thailand side of the river in Chiang Khong looking east into Laos near the Golden Triangle. The sun is setting in one picture and the sun is rising in the other as we look east into the bright sun.

Nearly 30 years ago, not far from this location, hundreds of Hmong risked their lives to flee Laos. Thousands of Hmong did the same much further down the river as it swings to the East. From there the river heads South into Cambodia.

Its very hard to describe ones feelings as you look across this river and think of what the Hmong people went through for freedom. Once they reached Thailand, after having traveled by night for up to 30 days, they were put into refugee camps.

Hmong News-LYN Dorm

Atirat and Nongnuch have been such faithful servants at Love Your Neighbor Dorm for many years. They labor many hours with over 60 children in their care.

Recently they felt the call to expand their ministry to the Thai people of Santisuk, about 30 minutes from the dorm. They stepped out on faith and rented this building to start a new church for the Messiah. Almost immediately there was resistance from Satan through those in powerful places.

Many prayers have been offered up to God around the world and the work is growing. Please keep Atirat and Nongnuch in your prayers for protection from Satan and that many more will come to the Messiah.

Hmong Girl Named Glue

Now you may say that the name Glue for a little girl is very unusual. One might first think the name could Hmong or Thai. Well its not. Its really not that usual for this little girl.

She lives in Song Khwae and was at Bangyat's house each time we were there for a meeting about a year ago. This is the same place where we saw a very sick baby with Downs and another little girl that had to crawl everywhere she went. I also showed pictures of other sick children in that post.

It may have left the impression that all children in Hmong villages are sick and unhappy. Well, I'm here to tell that's not true.

Of course this little girl's name is not really Glue. From the moment she saw me, she "glued" herself to me. If I was standing she had a hold of my leg. If I was walking she was right there with me. And if I sat down, she was on my lap. We were two peas in a pod.

She is a very happy little girl and talks all the time. She was giving me orders all the time. I couldn't do enough for her. She was glued to me.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of Glue. She has glued herself to my heart and mind always! Thank you Jesus for all these children in Hmong villages!

Hmong Associates in Nan and Chiang Rai Provinces

Bangyat Her seated on the left and Xeng Lor on the right are H.I.M. associates. They work with Seng Herr.

Xeng is our Home Missionary responsible for Chiang Rai Province. Due to his citizenship status, he can only travel in Chiang Rai Province. During 2006, served to reach the Hmong animistic people of Northern Thailand in 12 villages and many more in prison in Chiang Rai City. He brought 20 people to Christ and many more are interested in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many more are waiting to be baptized.

Xeng has worked very hard to serve church members leading them in worship services, Bible studies, teaching songs, visiting/praying for the sick in hospitals/homes, and setting a good example for all the people. Please pray for Xeng.

Bangyat Saeher is our Home Missionary stationed in Nan Province. During 2006 he worked closely with the Thai Baptist Convention to carry the Gospel of Christ to the hilltribe groups of Northern Thailand. He served in many churches teaching the Bible, preaching, and holding revivals. God used Bangyat in sharing the word among the Hmong and Lua people. Three Lua people were saved and 5 Hmong. There were 16 people baptized.

Bangyat conducted a survey of Hmong Christan Churches and cell groups for the Northern Thai Baptist Convention and the Thai Baptist Convention to issue legal certification documents to churches interested in being a Baptist Church.

Please pray for these men as we expect great things from God in 2007. God has already blessed in so many ways since Seng Herr is back on the field. Bangyat and Xeng are encouraged as well as all the cell groups and churches. Praise God!

Hmong Village in Auburn, GA

Many of you have asked us about the Learning Center in Auburn, GA which God allowed us to operate for 19 months in 2001 and 2002.

We maintained a three room apartment (formerly a chicken house) as the learning center. There were 12 computer, TV, many books and videos, area for study and home work, etc.

We often served over 200 bowls of noodles a week, ice cream, hot dogs, and other food stuffs.

We helped kids with their home work, provided first aid, transportation, clothes, and a million hugs. And we told them about Jesus. We took 30 or so to church with us. Sometimes we had Sunday School Classes at the apartment on Sunday morning and again on Sunday afternoon.

We never got to bed before midnight and had visitors as early as 6:00 AM.

Our bedroom was a clothes closet and storage area. When we could find the bed, we slept in it. We had at least 50-80 kids every day and evening. There was a total of 200 kids that came from the apartments and other areas.

Those are times that we will never forget. There were times of joy and times of saddness. Things happened that we can never share and never forget. I wish we could go back there again.

These pictures don't really show that much, what it was a HOOT! Thank you Jesus!

Hmong Village Report-Pam Ke, Nan Province, Thailand

God continues to work in Pam Ke! Early in February Mrs. Tong Xeng Saethao and her daughter Zang made professions of faith in Jesus. Seated to the right in this picture is Chua Herr, a Hmong International Ministries, Inc. associate.
Seng Herr has been ministering in this village for many years. Shirley and I first went to this village in 1999 with Dr. John. Seng was in Thailand on a short term project and joined us in this village. Seng and I prayer walked the whole village one day. I never dreamed that so many people would come to Christ in the years to follow or that Seng would be back there in Thailand in three months, May 1999.

Hmong Parenting Training on Border

Over 150 people came to Parenting Training Sessions in Northern Thailand on the "border". About 21 people came across for these sessions. This session lasted over a two day period.

Seng Herr, who works with The Bible League Thailand through Hmong International Ministries, Inc., states that he has never conducted a parenting meeting like this before. It is very difficult to get this many Hmong together at one time for a number of reasons. Praise God for this wonderful session.

Just a week before these sessions, 9 believers, who risk their lives to be Christians, came across to meet with Seng for discipleship training classes. I wish I could post their pictures. They are a courageous group.
