Hmong Helping Lua, Song Khwae, Nan Province

This small hut is occupied by three Lua families. They came from their village to work for a Hmong farmer near Song Khwae Village. Bangyat Her, in the blue shirt, a H.I.M. associate, has been helping these Lua families.

They are poor and very fearful of people. They have seen the love of Christ through Bangyat's life. They attended a study group at Bangyat's while we were there. (We were told later they also wanted to see the "white people" again)

The leader of the group had an accident and his right shoulder is broken. Because he is a poor Lua, he received very little attention at the hospital. His shoulder is not healing well. This situation would be so much different in the U.S.

The saddness of these people will stay with us for the rest of our lives. They never smiled one time while we were with them over a period of several hours.

Hmong Village-Tham Vieu Ke-Nan Province

Shirley and Francis Keck, H. I. M., were brought up to date on what has been going on in this village since their last visit. The Hmong gentleman speaks very good English and they enjoyed a very long discussion on the progress the church is making. He showed them the area where they plan to build a small building.

Like most Hmong, this gentleman and the other men in the village are hillside farmers. They raise fruit trees and vegetables as cash crops and for their food. Most also raise chickens and pigs to feed their families.

H.I.M. was here at Tham Vieu Ke in Febraury 2006 with Seng Herr, a H.I.M. associate. H.I.M. had three Hmong teams from the U.S. serve here in 2001 and 2002. H.I.M. associates have served here several times over the past 6 years.

Hmong Village-Pam Ke-Two Older Ladies

The lady on the left with Shirley Keck, H.I.M., has been a Christian for a many years. When there is a Bible study or church gathering, she is always there. We have known her for several years.

The Cell Church meets in the home of the son of the lady below. He is a Christian leader in this village and is the only Christian in this family. When we met her on this occasion, she was very weak and sickly. She knew she was dying. Seng Herr presented the Gospel and we all prayed for her to receive Christ. She stated that she would except Christ, but she wanted to see her husband for awhile first when she died. He was animistic and had died several years ago without Christ.

In just a few days, we came back to Pam Ke for her animistic funeral. Her Christian son was so heart broken because she did not receive Christ.

Two older Hmong ladies. Very much alike in many ways except where they will spend eternity.

Hmong Children in Paklang Village

These children are among over 500 that Shirley Keck, H.I.M., taught in Nan and Chiang Rai Provinces during February this year. She had Bible lessons for all ages.

Seng Herr taught the Bible to over 1500 Hmong adults during that time. Many people came to Christ and most of these were baptized.

We served in this village for three days in February 2006.

This Mission Project was H.I.M's seventh since 1999.

Cooking on the Ground, Hmong Style

Shirley Keck, of H.I.M. is cooking a meal for the Hmong and Lua who have gathered at Suwat Herr's house for Bible Study, Discipleship Training, and Literacy Lessons. Seng Herr taught Hmong to Hmong folks and Suwat taught Thai to the Lua.
Suwat is a Hmong leader working among his people in Nan Province. He also has been working with a family of Lua's who have hired out to a Hmong farmer. This states just how poor these Lua folks are and their situation. They live in a hut they build from the forest materials.

Hmong Forest Setting, Nan Province

Several new Hmong Christians were baptized in this beautiful stream and pool.
This "baptismal pool " is near Song Khwae Village in Nan Province where Bangyat Her serves Jesus (Yesus). He also serves 8 or 9 others villages, teaching the Hmong language, Discipleship Training, Bible Lessons, and Thai language to those who need it.
Bangyat will also be translating studies from Thai into Hmong. One of our Thai partners have some great Bible Studies, Cell Church Training, etc.

Hmong Work in Northern Thailand

HIM has been working with Hmong people in Nan and Chiang Rai Provinces in Northern Thailand since 1999. There have been seven mission projects during that time. We are currently supporting three men that serve among the Hmong.

This work should expand greatly next year. HIM asociates plan to spend more time in Thailand in the next few years.
